I love this recipe but I think I love the name of the recipe the most! Our family has been learning so many new things lately and one of our many adventurous undertakings has been to go in search of learning survival living but more importantly self reliance. I swear we're not preparing for 2012 here and running to our nearest cave :o) but we are learning the art of survival in the world in which we live in now. I find it so strange to talk like this as if a zombie Apocalypse:0) was actually coming but in today's modern world where we have become so dependent on disposable this and fast food that and global neighborhoods, we realize that really the family of today is in deed, much more isolated and not only do we not know our phone numbers without speed dial or voice recognition but most of us have regressed as we've grown older and more spoiled by convenience and disposable everything. We have no basic skills if we needed to sustain our own existence or for that matter even resources to bring us back to our innate sense of survival. We have taken so much for granted in our way of life that we have become imprisoned in our toys and creature comforts and people are starting to panic at the under current that we are needing to change the very ways in which we live and depend on our resources and replenishing those resources and supplies. I've found myself growing increasingly aware of this as a valid concern and even realize that with all the normal everyday hustle and bustle, natural disasters, family emergencies, sudden changes in plans, etc. that it's vitally important to keep your household especially your pantry well stocked with goods that will provide the essentials for each member of your family. I know that in this economy we have very little left over for extra expenses like most families out there and we are exploring the many options out there to satisfy all the elements that we are working with. So we found some great places online offering many neat ideas and I just wanted to share this really cute and so far enjoyable cookbook and site that it came from. Next, we are going fishing as our newest family adventure and my husband is determined to catch a fish so that if all else fails we can live on our boat and fish for survival (I think he's adorable and maybe suffering a bit of a pre mid-life hormonal moment or episode or something-- :o) but he's entertaining and we're crazy about him and none of us would trade him in for anything under the sun or anywhere else for that matter so he's ours forever and ever fish :o) and all!!!
